Jen & Her Gals

As I prepare myself for sessions in Fort Worth next week, I am going through a few of my favorite sessions from last month and came across Jen's.She has the most beautiful girls that make me excited about the "big girl" days ahead of me.

From Jen "I think the most important aspect of motherhood to me is the one that involves creating a space for my children to feel their emotions, to think creatively, to make decisions, and to make mistakes. I feel most successful as a mother when my daughters are confident and free to do these things boldly.   I wish I could better express what being a mother means to me. For now, I will quietly appreciate the bliss, bewilderment, admiration, heartbreak, and hope."

Elsa & Violet

Being a photographer gifts me with all sorts of opportunities. Those of you who don't know anything about Rockport (Other than, "Oh yeah, I got a buddy who goes fishin' down there") should know that our nickname is "Charm of the Texas Coast." It's a small beach community that loves the local artist. Tons of retired artists come here to nest. You need no more proof than walking down Austin Street Station. Gallery after gallery of local artists with their best work on display for locals and tourists to enjoy. One of these prolific galleries is Estelle Stair Gallery. I'm sure you can imagine my excitement when one of the gallery's employees contacted me for a family session - IN THE GALLERY. She has two girls, Elsa and Violet, who were bubbly and giggly and everything feisty that little girls are. Jennifer and her husband were patient and loving and unbelievably sweet with their girls. They booked a mini session, but I ended up with over thirty images in their final proofing gallery. I cannot tell you how much I loved photographing this family. Thank you, Shatraws, for allowing me a peek into your family's love!

From the mama: "I can't thank you enough for taking such wonderful photos of our family.  When I looked around my house, I realized that all of my photos are old...these kids are growing fast and I must keep up with them in the photo department!  I'm just so glad I can remember these moments  with your beautiful images.  Truly, Mae, you really have done an amazing job.  I appreciate your sweetness and hope to be able to make a habit out of putting your images on our mantle.

With Warmth,
Jennifer"

*Rockport/Coastal Bend families* I have ONE session left for the remainder of the year! Email me at maeburkephoto@gmail.com to get on the schedule!

Cadle Family

Karrie contacted me a few months ago, eager to meet me during my next visit to Fort Worth. She has three babies, but only one, her daughter, is still tiny. She has two older boys, 19 and 13, and her baby girl is 18 months old. This is a very precious time for this mama because, just like her husband, her oldest boy has enlisted in the Navy and will be headed out to boot camp. Can I just say, I still get very nervous shooting older kids. I mean, I kill it with the babies, obviously, but impressing grown boys to get genuine smiles out of em... Uh, intimidated. But Karrie has done such a fabulous job as a mama. All of these kiddos were so sweet, polite, and fun. Thank you, Cadles, for spending the morning with me.

Fort Worth clients, this is the field we'll be using come Nov 23rd during my last trip to Fort Worth. The light is DELICIOUS early in the morning and we should have even more yummy golds by then. Contact me via the contact form above or shoot me an email at maeburkephoto@gmail.com to make sure you have a spot reserved.
