Andie & Sadie

When I returned from Alabama, a day late, I caught a ride home, slept for a few hours, then drove out to Port Aransas before the sun came up to visit Andie her adorable daughter.
*IF* you haven't heard, I'll be visiting a few UHMAZING cities next year, but I am always totally freak out excited to photograph vacationing families.

From Andie
"I met Mae at the Click Away conference in San Antonio last year.  I’m a hobbyist photographer, who photographs her child on a daily basis, and is always striving to learn and improve.  So when some photography friends of mine mentioned they were going to Click Away, I booked my ticket and tagged along! I stumbled upon Mae’s class last-minute—and I’m so glad I did.  During that class I took one of my all-time favorite photos, and came home so incredibly inspired.  I knew someday I’d love to hire Mae to take photos of me and my daughter!

Also, I am totally and completely “that” woman—the one who all too often hides from the camera because she feels she needs to lose weight first.  It has been over 2 years since I’ve hired a photographer and gotten in the frame—which is 2 years too many!  I should know better.  I decided to bite the bullet and knew that I would always regret passing up the opportunity to work with Mae.  I’m so INCREDIBLY glad I did, and that it worked out for Mae’s schedule to photograph us while we would be vacationing near her.

The session was by far the easiest, most fun session I’ve participated in.  Maybe because I’m so used to being behind the camera—but when I get in front of it, it feels very awkward and definitely not fun to me. But Mae was such a pleasure—she directed us when needed, but mostly, she just hung out with us as if we were spending our morning with a friend….taking fabulous photos all the while. J

Thank you, THANK YOU, Mae for the unforgettable experience and beautiful, beautiful photos.  I will cherish them forever…"

Caitlin & Josh in the Waiting

I had so much fun with this couple, Caitline & Josh, out on Mustang Island a few weeks ago on a gloriously foggy evening.

"As a first-time mom, my experience growing life has been an incredible and emotional journey. I feel like I've been so busy with preparing my world for this new life and watching my body and spirit evolve that I've lost track of my time in pregnancy-land. I've told friends that it feels both as though pregnancy is taking forever and as though my due date is coming almost too quickly! What I really appreciate about Mae's photos is that they've allowed me to take a pause and really absorb what this time in my life means. I'll be able to look at the tender moments she captured for years to come and remember what it felt like to be where I am today, and that's a gift I already treasure. "

Chelsea & Her Girls

Chelsea and I met up at the Fulton Marina one windy weekend to spend some time with her little loves, here's what Chelsea had to say

Your work has always taken my breath away, but seeing my girls through your lens takes me beyond words. You have done exactly what I asked for, but have taken it to a level I could not have anticipated. In an impossible way, I can “see” the love I feel for these girls when I look at these images. I cannot thank you enough.

As for my journey to motherhood: The path that has unfolded was not the one I had pictured or planned, but I wouldn’t trade a moment of it. My girls have undeniable similarities, but are truly unique. They each bring their own little something to make up our family. And in some magical way, you have captured that very thing. In just a few pictures, you have managed to show elements of who each of us is and, more importantly, who we are together.

I could gush over you and these pictures all day.

I'm so excited to spend the summer here in Rockport after my trip to Fort Worth in a few weeks. Photographing vacationing & visiting families is always such a blast!
