Spring Favorites

Y’all. I miss my clients.
I’m so grateful that my March, and April clients have been sweet enough to postpone their sessions, but, MAN, I miss them!

This spring I helped welcome a few babies, worked with some of my favorite brands, and got to show off my sweet little hometown with some vacationing families. Since we’re all at home, I thought I’d share some of my favorite images from the start of this year.

I will be so thrilled to get back to booking sessions, as I’m sure we’ll all be so excited to get back to certain parts of our normal life. I’ll be sharing a very sweet engagement session and maternity session very soon, and will let all of you know as soon as I’m able to start planning sessions again.

Welcome Baby Bear

A few months ago I had the pleasure of photographing one of my very favorite humans

Watching my childhood friends become spouses and parents has been such a fulfilling part of “growing up” and being hired to photograph their journeys has been a huge blessing.

And just in case you were wondering, yes, Bear was absolutely the sweetest, chillest, angel baby there ever was.

Gabby’s love of nature sprouts from her bones through generations of green thumbs in her family. It was only fitting that we celebrated the new life in her family by meeting up at her childhood home when she came to visit for Spring Break.

Five Ways to Enjoy Rockport on Spring Break

I speak for all of us when I say, we are SO GLAD you’ve decided to spend your Spring Break in Rockport-Fulton. My hometown is slow-paced, salt water loving, with the sweetest sunsets just waiting for you and your family.

Here are five things my husband and I enjoy doing this time of year with our daughters

ONE - FULTON OYSTERFEST

If you are lucky enough to join us for the Town of Fulton’s annual Oysterfest, you are in for a treat! It is our family’s favorite carnival put on by The Pride of Texas and the proceeds from the festival go toward funding our local Volunteer Fire Department. Locals know to expect one chilly, soggy night or morning, followed by a weekend of sunshine and smiles, as the ushering of Spring becomes official for our little town.

TWO - ROCKPORT BEACH

While it’s not always the warmest this time of year, Rockport’s skies are waters are never bluer than they are early spring. The air is crisp, the sun is warm, and the company of other families with little ones running around is almost always guaranteed. After you get done with lunch or dinner at Panjo’s, Hu-Dat, or Paradise Key, take the kids to run around (and enjoy the brand new play structures!) to get them worn out before bedtime.

THREE - PAINTING

Whether you head down to Rockport Harbor, Goose Island State Park, or a local nursery (like Bloomer’s, pictured here!) make sure you bring your camera, of course, but also pack your paints! As a homeschooling family, one of our favorite activities is packing up our paints to slow down and capture the beauty around us.

FOUR - SHOP AND SNACK

Rockport-Fulton is full of shops that showcase our pride for our Texan artists and makers that we would love for you to visit so you can take home a little seaside treasure of your own. And whether you stop in at Goin’ Coastal Outfitters for a sno-cone or icecream, or meet up with friends for cocktails at GLOW, there are plenty of yummy snacks all over town to keep you fueled while you shop til you drop.

FIVE - FAMILY PHOTOS

Okay, okay, maybe I’m a little biased about this one! Sure, I hope you go home with a ton of pictures of your beautiful family in our beautiful town on your phone, BUT I WANT YOU TO BE IN THEM TOO! I specialize in relaxed family photos. That means hair is wind blown and outfits are color coordinated, but no one is wearing identical outfits (bye-bye 1990s white button downs and blue jeans!) I want to be with you and your family while you make pancakes at your AirBnb, marvel at The Big Tree in Lamar, and try to spot tailing reds. I help families book and shoot family photos that are a huge part of their trip to Rockport, not the dreaded ordeal that they’ve become accustomed to. If you are looking for a family photographer to hang out with you for a little bit as part of your stay here, please email me at hello@maeburke.com and check out my shop for package options.

From all of us in The Charm of the Texas Coast, Happy Spring Break, Y’all!
